Why regular maintenance matters

Why does regular electrical maintenance matter?

Small electrical faults don't always stay small. Loose connections, ageing components and worn fittings can lead to nuisance faults, unreliable electrics and unnecessary safety risks.

Regular electrical maintenance helps identify potential issues early, keeping your home's electrical system safe, reliable and performing as it should.

Whether you've noticed a faulty power point, flickering lights, a tripping circuit breaker or an ageing switchboard, Electrical Plus can investigate the problem, explain what's causing it and recommend the right solution.

What is the complimentary 45-point electrical safety check?

Every booked residential maintenance or repair visit includes our complimentary 45-point Electrical Safety Check at no additional charge.

While we're at your home, we'll visually check key areas of your electrical installation for obvious signs of deterioration, damage or potential safety concerns.

If we notice something that needs attention, we'll explain what we've found, why it matters and what, if anything, we recommend doing about it.

What does the 45-point check include?

  • Switchboard condition
  • RCD and safety switch condition
  • Smoke alarm inspection
  • Power points and switches
  • Visible wiring and fittings
  • Exterior electrical equipment
  • Lighting and downlights
  • Bathroom and wet-area electrical
  • Signs of overheating or damage
  • General electrical safety concerns

Our 45-Point Electrical Safety Check is a general visual safety check and is not a substitute for a formal electrical inspection, testing programme or electrical certification.

Electrician servicing a switchboard

Why we include it

We believe electrical maintenance should be about more than fixing the problem you called us for.

Our complimentary 45-point check gives us an opportunity to spot obvious electrical issues while we're already at your home, and let you know about them before they potentially become bigger problems.

Repairs, standards and certification

Electrical work in New Zealand is carried out to AS/NZS 3000, the wiring standard, and that applies to a repair just as much as it does to a new installation. Where the work we complete requires certification, you get the appropriate documentation for it, which for most maintenance jobs is a Certificate of Compliance.

All work is carried out by, or supervised by, Registered Electricians. Electrical Plus is led by Andrew Baker, a Registered Electrician with over 30 years of experience, registered with the Electrical Workers Registration Board. Every repair is backed by our Lifetime Workmanship Warranty.
