If a problem occurs as a result of the way we've carried out the electrical work, we'll put it right.

Products, fittings and materials we supply are covered separately by the applicable manufacturer's warranty.

Our warranty applies to workmanship carried out by Electrical Plus and does not cover product failure, normal wear and tear, damage, alterations by others or faults unrelated to our original work.

Yes. Electrical Plus is led by Registered Electrician Andrew Baker, who has over 30 years of electrical industry experience. All electrical work is carried out by, or under the appropriate supervision of, Registered Electricians and completed in accordance with New Zealand electrical requirements.

Yes. Where required, we provide the appropriate electrical certification, including Certificates of Compliance and Electrical Safety Certificates, so you have the correct documentation on file for insurance, property sales or future reference.

Yes. We regularly carry out electrical repairs, maintenance and compliance work for rental properties on behalf of property managers and landlords. We can liaise directly with tenants to arrange access, complete the work and keep everyone updated throughout the process.

Yes. We work across homes and businesses throughout the North Shore, from small household repairs and renovations through to commercial electrical work, upgrades and ongoing maintenance.

There's more to electrical work than just the time spent on site. It depends on the job, a simple repair will cost a lot less than a switchboard upgrade or full renovation fit-out. Wherever possible, we'll provide a clear, upfront price before work begins, so you know what to expect. For larger projects, we're happy to provide a free quote.

Yes. Our minimum call-out fee covers travel, the first hour of labour, and any required electrical testing and certification. We'll always confirm the cost upfront before any work begins.

Wherever possible, yes. We aim to provide a fixed price before we start work, so you know what to expect. If something unexpected comes up once we're on site, we'll explain what we've found and get your approval before carrying out any additional work.

Most maintenance and service work can be quoted the same day, often before we've even left your property. Renovations and smaller projects are typically quoted within 24 hours, while larger new builds and commercial projects may take a little longer depending on the scope and plans provided.

Yes. Send us a few photos of the job or area and, in many cases, we can give you an initial estimate or price before we arrive. If we need to see the job in person, we'll let you know and confirm the price before work begins.

Yes. Send us your plans and we can review the electrical requirements and put together an accurate quote for your renovation or new build. Our Electrical Planning Service can also help with lighting, power points, switching and other electrical details before work begins.

We'll stop, explain what we've found and why it matters, and give you a clear price for any additional work before we go ahead. We never carry out unapproved work or add surprise charges to your final invoice.

It depends on the nature of the job and our current bookings, but for most maintenance and service work we aim to get to you within the same week. We'll always give you an honest timeframe when you get in touch, and urgent electrical or safety issues are prioritised wherever possible.

Not necessarily. As long as we have arranged access, you don't always need to be home while we carry out the work. Just let us know when booking and we'll arrange what works best, keeping you updated while the job is underway.

Absolutely. In fact, it's one of the most cost-effective ways to use an electrician. If you have a few smaller jobs, a faulty switch, an extra power point, a flickering light or an extractor fan that needs attention, send us the list and we'll aim to get everything sorted in one visit. Yes, where required and by prior arrangement. We can carry out after-hours or weekend work, particularly for commercial clients where electrical work needs to be completed with minimal disruption to staff, customers or normal business operations.

Just make sure the work area is reasonably clear and accessible, and secure any pets if needed. If you have a few jobs or questions, it can also help to make a quick list so we can go through everything with you while we're there.

Common signs include an older fuse-based switchboard, circuit breakers that trip regularly, limited or no RCD protection, or a board that looks worn, damaged or overcrowded. An RCD usually trips because it's detecting an electrical fault or leakage to earth. Common causes include a faulty appliance, moisture in an outdoor fitting, or a problem with the wiring. Yes. A power point or switch that feels unusually warm can be a sign of a loose connection, overloading or another electrical fault and shouldn't be ignored. Stop using it and give Electrical Plus a call so we can check it as soon as possible.

Flickering lights can be caused by a loose connection, a failing LED driver, a faulty lamp or a dimmer compatibility issue. If the flickering is persistent or affecting several lights, it could indicate a larger electrical issue. Give Electrical Plus a call and we'll find the cause and get it sorted.

There's no set timeframe for every home, but if your home is older or has ageing wiring or an older switchboard, it's worth having things checked from time to time. Yes. Every booked residential maintenance or repair visit includes our complimentary electrical safety check at no extra cost. We'll check the key electrical safety items around your home and let you know if we spot anything that may need attention.

Yes. We install weatherproof outdoor power points for decks, gardens, entertaining areas and general outdoor use. We'll make sure they're correctly positioned, properly weatherproofed and installed to the appropriate electrical standards so they're safe and reliable.
